I am not someone who gets personal on this blog. I keep it strictly golf equipment or golf in general. After the week that I just went through I think its an interesting story to tell. As most of you have seen in the news Texas had one of the coldest weeks we have ever had. In addition to the blistering cold our electric grid fail completely. 4 million Texans including me had no power. While I didnt have it as bad as others I will fully say I didnt have it good. Ill go over some of the high and low points of my week.

Sunday
Valentines Day was fun. We got a bunch of snow. More snow than I had ever seen at one point. It snowed from the moment I woke up until I went to bed. It was incredible. I had so much snow on my car I poured my wife and I a shot of Bourbon which we chilled in the snow. It was a lot of fun. Sunday night though we started hearing rotating blackouts were going to be a thing. They were saying we would be without power for anywhere between 15-45 minutes at a time. No big deal my wife and I thought. We went to bed thinking nothing of it!

Monday
We woke up around 9:30 to no power. Again not much concern on our end. Then the power outage extended to an hour. Then 2 hours. I got up and had a Cliff Bar. Went back to bed and started reading a book. I noticed I was getting pretty cold and I checked the temperature. It said 14. Now, Texas doesnt do 14 degrees. We just dont. We were now solidly on 5 hours of no heat. Time kept ticking away and it was starting to get dark. We had an offer to go to a friends house but we decided to stick it out because the roads were dangerous. If it was life or death we would have but it didnt feel like we were there yet. At 5:30 we saw the fan kick on we bolted to the kitchen to make ourselves some dinner. We made things as quick as possible and sat down to eat. We ate dinner with power and heat. Right as we started to get comfortable the power shut off again. It was now 6:30, the sun was setting and we had no power. We killed some time for about an hour and a half until 8 when we made a fire in the living room. We sat out there for 2 hours and then at 10 moved to the car to charge our external batteries. At 11 we moved inside to go to bed. While trying to get comfortable in 2 layers of pants and 2 layers up top we got light at 12:30. We took that opportunity to heat up the house to a reasonable temp. Our thermostat was reading 53 degrees. Forecasts were for -2 degrees overnight. This was the 2nd coldest temperature recorded in DFW. We managed to go to sleep and see what the next day brought

Tuesday
We woke up proud of ourselves for making it through the night. We woke up to no power but it eventually kicked back on around 9:30-10. That prompted us both to get up and starting figuring out what we needed to do while the power was on. I ate some cereal while my wife made coffee. It was nice to have that warm beverage along with some heat flowing through the house. Around 11 I told my wife we needed to take a friend up on an offer to go to their house to shower and thaw out. We tried cleaning up our house a little bit and we realized our hot water heater was frozen so we had no hot water AND our drain was frozen so our kitchen sink would drain. We lost power again around noon and decided to go to our friends house around 330.When we arrived we played with their kiddos and small talked. It was nice to see another human that wasnt my wife and I enjoyed it so much. We were still battling the sun going down and freezing the roads even more so we didnt want to spend too much time over there. I showered and loved every second of it. After I showered it was my wifes turn. While she was in the shower I checked our Nest Thermostat and it was connected which meant WE HAD POWER. Our friends gave us some delicious chili and we rushed home. Finally we had power and didnt have much to do besides relax and thaw. We sat down ate and watched TV. At one point my wife decided to watch The Bachelor with her friends via Facetime and I got to go in my office and relax. After having power for about 3 hours we lost it again around 7. We started another fire and decided to take it all in stride. The power went out for about an hour and popped back on around 8-830. We lost power around 12:30 but it popped back on about an hour later.

Wednesday
Our 8 off 1 on schedule was behind us and it was more of a off 4 on 2. Then it started moving to a on 4 off 1. Eventually on Wednesday we were lucky enough to get power back fully around 2 and we have had it ever since. Hell I even went to bed in my normal garb. We even found the energy and faith in the power to go outside and actually play in the snow.
