Everyone has a preference with their putter grips. Some people like the large Super Stroke type putter grips. Others like the pencil thin Ping classic grip. Some like a pistol grip while others like a square grip. Its all a personal preference. ME personally prefer a grip that is Midsized but rubber. This often leads to a problem though, it makes the grip very heavy. That basically makes it a counter balance for the putter head.Thats why when Golf Pride announced the Pro Only Series I went out and picked up a couple

The Selling Point
A rubber grip that comes in 3 shapes. Each shape has its own size. It really promotes something for everyone. If you like a traditional size and shape the Red Star is the one for you. If you want something a little rounder and bigger the Green Star is your fit. If something a little less traditional is more your jam the triangular blue star is the perfect fit.
Besides the grip sizes the new rubber compound Golf Pride utilizes is firmer which allows it to provide more feedback. THis should help golfers know if they making center contact more.

My thoughts
After trying out all the grips I went with the larger and more oval Green Star. The first thing I noticed about the grip was the look. A black grip with some silver channels. The Pro Only logo on the front looked great! I also was a big fan of the subtle star between the words pro and only. It lets you know which grip its. Overall its a great looking grip.
I personally like the way it feels in my hands. The grip doesnt have a ton of texture on it. Some of the other grips on the market have different grooves and bumps to help with hand placement. The problem with those marking can be the fact that you dont like grabbing the putter that way! Maybe the way you hold the putter doesnt conform to their graphics lay out. The Pro Only series kills this problem. The Golf Pride on the front doesnt affect your grip at all. The channels run down the side the whole way so it wont bother you it at all. It rubber itself is firm but it does feel “soft” in the hands. Its certainly not a Superstroke in terms of softness but it did feel like my hand just fit it perfectly.
In terms of actual performance it performed very well. I really liked that firmer rubber. The feedback it gave it tremendous. I usually can tell when I hit it wrong obviously but this let me figure out which part of the face I missed it on. It also helped me square up the putter face. I had a much better awareness of the club face. Its larger size helped me stabilize the putter as well. It blends the benefits of the larger size with the awesome feedback. Other putter grips will sometimes miss this.

Final Thoughts
The grip looks and feels great. Its at a great price point as well. At around 15 bucks its cheaper than a lot of its competitors. If youre like me and want something that feels like a traditional putter grip but has some of the benefits of a larger grip this grip is a great idea.
