Back when Cleveland announced the new Zipcore wedges I wrote that one of the disappointments was the lack of grind options on the club. Well its time for me to take a big ol’ serving of crow because Cleveland is making me eat it. Today Cleveland announce done of the coolest customization platforms for their wedges I have ever seen.

Custom Grinds for the everyday player
I am by no means a wedge grinding expert. Im confused by a lot of different grinds and honestly probably couldnt tell you which one I should be using. I do know that they can be really important. I also know how important the leading edge grind can be as well. Those 2 things make a huge difference in how playable the wedge is. Tour players go through a large consultation process to get it perfect. Then after their consultation they get the clubs custom ground for them to work exactly like they need it to.
Cleveland is giving everyday guys like us the opportunity to experience these custom wedges. Cleveland has given us a simple 2 step process along with a pretty cool guide to help us decide which grinds and leading edge we should use. Just looking at it I can already tell which grind I should be using as well as which leading edge I should be playing. It really is an awesome feature and one I can’t wait to see out in the wild.

New Finishes
When the new club was announced they offered it in Tour Chrome which was a big disappointment but they did promise some different options in the future. Well the future is now!
Today Cleveland announced a return of the Black Satin and the Tour Raw. As somebody who prefers a raw finish this is an exciting addition to the line up. A lot of people also like the black finish so its very good to see that those will continue in the line up

Final Thoughts
I have been a fan of Cleveland wedges for a few years now starting with the RTX-3. I then moved to an RTX-4 and may make the move to an RTX Zipcore. It is nice to get a real tour experience. Custom grinds as well as a raw finish is typically reserved for the tour only. With this program you can get it and not have to pay an exorbitant price. Cleveland also sent most of the major golf sites a set with their initials or logo etched on. It really shows off the ability they have to customize a wedge and it would be cool if they sent me one too… just sayin’. All BS aside it’s another great release from Cleveland. I hate saying Cleveland has always been known for their wedges because that makes it seem like thats all they have done well but Cleveland has always produced solid wedges and these seem no different
