Callaway Distance Fitting

One of the biggest challenges for a company at this time, especially one in an industry like golf, is to keep customers engaged with the brand. With customers not out on the course playing their clubs or getting fit for their clubs brands have had to be creative. Taylormade has leaned heavily on their tour staff to help create content and keep customers engaged. Callaway decided to take their master fitters and offer up their services for free. I decided to take advantage of this offer and see what it was like.

I booked my fitting online on the Callaway website. The booking process included a form that asked for things like your height, wrist to floor ,and current set up. At my scheduled time I received a call from my fitter. We traded greetings and jumped right in.

I am on the short side and have decently long arms for someone my height. That means my set up is a little unique. I play my clubs a half inch short and one degree flat. My fitter suggested those specs without me mentioning it so it really put me at ease. We continued discussing my game and the problems I face on the course. Distance isnt my issue but hitting it straight is. I also do a decent job of catching the center of the face. Since striking the ball isnt an issue but the direction is a combo set of the Apex long iron and the Apex pro short irons. He also suggested the True Temper Elevate shafts. The extra weight could possibly help with consistency and slow me down a little.

What did I think?

I really wanted to see what they reccomended me in the Callaway line up. Honestly I expected an Apex Pro set. I also know my prototype 95 Recoils would cause an issue. They are stiff for graphite especially at that low of a weight. Its hard to find something that really matches the specs. Most steel at this weight spins too much or launches too high so its always cool to see what fitters recommend. The Elevate was an interesting choice and one I may not have considered for myself.
