The Green Fee First of all Happy New Year! I hope you have set some goals and I also hope you achieve those goals. As I said on instagram my goals are to lose 50 lbs, see at least 5 rounds in the 70’s, and become a respected member of the golf media. Lets hope I hit my goals!
With that out of the way lets start a new series today. I often hear about how people dont play golf because of how expensive it is to start. They see prices of new clubs and get sticker shock. Well one of my goals is to show people we can do it cheaper. I plan on doing a bag under $1k, $750, $500,and $250. Lets start today with a grand
Driver- Srixon 565 Driver- 139.99

The fact this driver is only 139.99 is incredible. Such a good club when it came out and honestly I would put it up against anything that came out in 2020. A great looking club with a great sound. While i am sometimes Mygolfspy’s biggest critic it did win their Most Wanted driver in 2016. Overall an impressive drive and to ge tit for 140 is a steal
3 Wood- Srixon Z F85 99.99

Just an absolute steal for 100 bucks. In fact I’m considering buying it myself. Great club. I was a huge fan of the look and sound. At under 100 bucks its a great value and something any golfer could put into their bag at this moment

At this point in the bag you can go a few different ways. I prefer a 3 hybrid over a 5 wood. I know plenty of people who want the 5 wood. No biggie either way
I probably sound like a HUGE Srixon homer at this point but I honestly am stunned how cheap these are! I honestly have this exact club in my bag. Its one of my favorites! Very point and shoot. Some folks say Hybrids tend to go left. Not for me!
4 Hybrid/ Iron/ Driving Iron- Titleist 818 H1 $110.00

Another interesting part of the bag. I dont really use a 4 iron but some people do. I had a driving iron in the bag for the longest time but I forgot how to swing it. I fully admit i have a 4 hybrid that I aim out right and hit high towering draws. Its probably spins too much and I dont optimize distance with it but its so reliable
Since I play a 4 hybrid I am going to price out a hybrid. For this I chose the Titleist 818 Hybrid. It is a nice classic shape. Has some cool Titleist swagger. Also the fac ti sadjustable is great. You can loft it up or down and change the lie angle to really dial it in.
Iron Set Taylormade Burner 09 irons 349.99
Covid has made this job much harder. These irons are not worth anywhere near 350 but its a crazy club market right now! These were some of my favorite irons when they came out. Fast ball speeds and people were picking up big gains on their irons with these. Be on the look out for a Burner 2.0 set if you can find it. Even better!
We need wedges and a putter and we are at 780 bucks! Could be tough. Lets see what we can find

Just a great looking wedge. Looks bad ass in the bag. I had one of these in my bag for a long time. Performed great. Will have some fun with this wedge
Lob Wedge- Cleveland RTX 4 Black Satin 69.99

Very nice wedge. Has a classic Cleveland shape. This shape has won many time son tour and will continue to do so. It inspires confidence. You also get the benefit of it being a fairly new club as well!
This leaves me 100 bucks for a putter! Lets see what we can find
Putter- Odyssey O works Number 9 89.99

A cool tour inspired shape on the putter. The Number 9 is most famously used by Phil. The face technology is pretty great as well. that O works insert is great. Surprisingly soft.
Final Thoughts
Total out the door is 994! Great set of sticks here that anyone would be proud to play. It wont get you laughed off the course thats for sure!
