Yesterday Golfwrx gave us pictures of the new Odyssey Toulon Putters. There are some pretty big changes coming in 2022 and lets go over them!

Sole Design
The first thing I noticed was the changing of the weights on the sole. Toulon since its inception has been about the weighted sole plate which can be removed and replaced based on the golfers preference. In the new version we are getting some oblong weights on the toe and heel. We are also getting a much more modern look. Gone are the names of the head shape with the logo. It looks cleaner but I am honestly not sure its better. It looks very generic and loses some of the fun and uniqueness of the brand. I was also a fan of the sole plate. It was a unique look and one that really made them stand out.

Face Milling
The face milling on these looks different than the previous model. The biggest thing I noticed is the face that the little lines that run horizontally are touching in the new model while the last model they are separated. Not sure the reasoning but I honestly prefer the look of the old one.

Grip
This isnt the most important thing because you can get any grip on it that you want but lets still talk about it. What the heck is this grip? It looks like a cheap Winn grip. I know grip issues are a thing right now but I hope this isnt what they come to retail with. The Lamkin Sinkfit has been everywhere this year. Why not it? Hell Id take an Odyssey version of the PING blackout over this grip. On a premium putter this grip stock would be VERY disappointing

Final Thoughts
When Toulon burst on the scene a few years ago, they had some great looking clubs that looked and felt great. They had their sole plates for adjustability. They also had a unique look. When they sold to Odyssey there were some concerns from fans of the brand that Odyssey would get ot them and they would cease being the premium brand they were and would become just another Odyssey. The putters have made some small changes but they have slowly been inching their way away from the Toulon imaging and look. This line appears to be the final nail in the coffin. Im sure they will be great feeling putters but this line up feels like we have lost Toulon and now have fancy Odysseys.
